In September, Fujipunch received a contact from a customer. They currently have an old project of an electronic cigarette case. The annual demand needs 500K. It has always processed by the die casting.

Due to the epidemic this year, orders have increased significantly. Currently, it is supplied by 3 die-casting suppliers, 10K+ per week, but due to poor electroplating caused by trachoma, the appearance defect rate of the product is very high, it is about 30%.

In order to solve this problem, the customer newly developed several suppliers corresponding to this product, but they all encountered the same problem. As long as die-casting is used, trachoma is inevitable. The presence of trachoma affects the subsequent electroplating effect, resulting in poor appearance of the product. At present, the customer’s supplier is very hard to process. Because the defect is too high, resulting in the production and delivery date that cannot meet market demand.

Under such circumstances, the customer found Fujipunch, hoping that Fujipunch could help improve this problem.

Compared with the die-casting industry, Fujipunch is better at deep drawing process. Fujipunch has always made deep drawing products, and is good at helping customers study the possibility of product realization by using their deep drawing experience.

When getting the customer’s product drawings, Fujipunch’s technical staff immediately do the forming analysis of the product to the customer.

Because of the different molding methods, compared with die-casting molding, the deep drawing process can completely avoid the existence of trachoma. Although compared with die casting, the cost of deep drawing will be higher.

Although there is no problem with the molding, the customer once again asked for the treatment of the appearance of the product, which needs to be polished and then do the coating. The guests reported that the appearance requirements were very strict. After further understanding, it was found that the guests did not have standard requirements for appearance parts. At present, they are judged by the naked eye. Due to the confidentiality of the product, photos of the appearance of the product cannot be provided.

In the absence of standards, it is difficult to judge the standards.

In order to understand the appearance of the product, the Fujipunch deep drawing team made an appointment with the customer immediately and learn about this demanding appearance.

At the scene, it was found that the customer’s product had a mirror effect. Although there was no appearance document, Fujipunch could provide limited samples   to meet customer needs.

Because of the special appearance effect requirements of the product, ordinary 304 materials cannot meet the needs of customers’ products, it must use the 304 materials with mirror surface. The 304 material of the mirror surface can enhance the mirror effect required by the guests, and it is also twice the result with half the effort after coating.

From die casting to deep drawing stamping, through material changes, process changes, although the processing methods are completely different. The processing cost has increased, but overall, it has greatly reduced the defect rate, helped customers solve problems, and provided another solutions to process the products.
